Default academic licence

At the moment i have personal learning edition 6.5 but in about a month or so i will be a full time student again and will get 7.0 unlimited with the academic licence.
My question is what can i and cant i do with the academic and ple? For example, would it be appropriate to enter your challenges? I know i cant do anything that will make any money, but what about a free mod for a game? I tried to look at the alias website but its a bit of gobbledy gook to me.

As far as the PLE go, the way I see it, if you don't make any money on what you make then it's ok. As far as the competitions here, I've seen people using PLE, so no problems there I guess...

Don't really know anything about academic license, but my guess would be that the same rules apply, or at least that if it's ok to use PLE then it's ok to use academic too...

Just curios, what does Maya cost when you're a fulltime student?

The only restriction with the academic license is that you cannot make money with it. Other than that, you can do anything you want, such as make a demo reel/portfolio, etc.
