Problem with Isoparms

I'll try to explain this as best I can... I'm modeling a face in a circular fashion coming out from the outside of the lips. Each Curve has the same number of points. Whenever I try to loft the curves, everything looks fine from a distance, but what looks like one isoparm is actually about 10 isoparms bunched together. It's only doing this at one spot. Is there a way to get rid of the extra Isoparms? Can they be deleted?

-Thanks
