Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

you might try to render clouds and put them into the background as a 2D image. Darrin Krumweide did a interesting video tut on layering environments.

If you want a reall easy way round get a sky image off the internet via google, create a nurbs or poly plane move it to the back if the scene and scale it so it fills your render camera's resolution gate, then add the image to it via a new material

PS - try to get a nice hi res sky image

if you got maya help files you could check out the tuts to make clouds with fluids....though you were aiming to make a sky not clouds.


A pint of example is worth a gallon of advice!!
