Default Maya on 2 Monitors w/different Resolutions - Window height problem

I have a laptop (res: 1280x800) that I sometimes connect to an LCD
monitor (res:1280x1024) in the span mode. Most applications work fine,
however I am having problems with Maya. The height of the Maya window
stays at 800px no matter what I do, maximizing and resizing work only
up to 800px. It seems to be using the max. height of my laptop, which
is the primary monitor but I don't understand why since other
applications such as IE, Photoshop can be resized to 1280x1024 without
any problems. Anyone has any ideas?
