Default HEY I need help plz help

you can change the section if u want



hey i know this is in the wrong section but can u's help a newb plz

i am doin that awsome dog tutorial from simply maya

and when it comes time to change it to change from poly to subdiv it wont do it it says this
Error: Command polyToSubdiv failed. Open Script Editor for details.
i click the script thingy and it says this :

yes i now fixed this by deleting 3 faces at the head but now it goes totally wack !!

wAT IS WRONG NOW cry' this is rlly bad

when i do have the model selected and i did do clean up and it didnt work sad'

so if i upload hte file could any one fix it and tell me the solution so i can continue please

soz to say this but wen this happens to me i generally delete the faces in that area and use say extrude edge tool and remake that area.

but make sure that all the verts in that area are fully merged first

mayb some1 else will mave a less drastic measure

ps. i havent done the full dog tut but u should clean up those 3sided into quads and this will also make the model better both in poly mode and sub divs - but if this is how the tuts saiys plz forgive me

what is wrong?

Triangles are bad with subdivisions!

Look at the neck- see how nice it came out? That's because all you have are 4 sided polygons. Now look at the bad parts on the Subdivision mesh- those are the parts with 3 or with 5+ sided faces.

yeh i know i treid to make as many squares as possible can any one seggest on how to make them 4 sided ?
thanks for the help and also i fou8nd out that dude with trouble with the car helped a lot

well in a ton of your cases, you can simply select a face and press the delete button (or go to edit poly->delete edge) and BAM- 2 tris becomes 1 quad (like magic :p)
