Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Egg of doom!

Well for 3d animation class i have to model a egg and stand using nurbs. Since maya wouldnt open for me, i had to use xsi to make it, I did finally get it exported to maya but it looked all wrong. And luck have it when i rebooted my computer maya worked, right after i got its started and such. Im stil messing with the textures and lights even though i was just suppose to model it but i went overboard. Any ideas would be welcome. Hope you guys like it.

Too pointy at the top. Eggs are more rounded.

Not too crazy about that texture in the first pic, but then I hate using procedural textures anyway.

It owuld be nice to have more of a background for that crystal one so that the refraction is more apparent. Maybe use the checkerboard pattern as your BG texture instead of 50% gray.

I was thinking of trying to have a mini storm in the glass egg. with clouds and lightning. Any ideas on how to do that. Also maybye turn it into one of those lighting balls that when you touch it the botls touch and follow yoru fingers. This isnt going to be animated at least not yet. But i just wanted to throw some ideas at you.

Use a curve with a glowing texture for the lightning or electricty the clouds would be more of a challenge. Mabey create a rough cloud geo in the egg and texture it with transparncey maps?
