Default fighter plane bullets

i am trying to make a short film with a couple of planes over an ocean scene...i have some animation done and i dont know how to make the gunfire come out of the airplanes and make it look realistic.


any help will be apreciated.

Model a bullet
the look at teh help files in maya for Instancing geometry to a partical emitter..
create an emitter
instance the geometry to the emitter
parent the emitter to the gun barel on the plane, and set it to emit in the correct axis..
I'd give you instructions on instancing geometry but, off the top of my head i cant remember. Should't be hard to find though
