Question wich tut to choose

Hi there, Im slowly moving along with maya and now I wanna learn the basics of laying out the UVs and applying different maps such as color, bump and spec.
so now Im choosing between downloading the low poly character texturing tutorial or the evil gnome texturing tutorial but they seem quite alike so Im wondering if anyone has had any experience with these and could maybe recommend one or another. thanks!

I think there is a texturing tut in the free section if I remember correctly. It was good.
