Importing path from illustrator

hi guys. I'm a maya newbie, and I've got a problem with an illustrator path imported in maya 2008. When I import the file, maya recognize it like a curve, but I want to convert this curve in a polygon to extrude some faces. I know I could place the image and start to model from a polygon, but is there the possibility to convert the curve in polygon without building it from zero?
thank you
idoru

You could use BevelPlus on the curve and set the output to polygons.
