Default movie file as an opacity map in maya08'

so yeh, the title pretty much sums it up,

basically my idea is to have a face appear in smoke and start speaking...

I would like to use a movie file of some sort to portray a moving image as an opacity map. but click the transperency tab>file> only lets you do .iff and other image files.

any ideas/ alternate approaches would be helpful

i hope i'm not being vague lol

thanks

Default

just to clarify

as far as I can tell

you CAN use a 2d texture>movie as a color map

you CANNOT use 2d texture>movie as a transparency map

I have tried fiddling with the opacity PP in the particle array attributes. but I find it a bit overwhelming and i feel in over my head.

if you can help i'd appreciate it
