Does anyone know if there is a tutorial on how to make a galaxy with stars?

i dont know if there is a tut but you could just use spheres for stars and set their shader's glow value to about .4 or .5 so they "light up" and use larger spheres for planets

This should help you out:

Along with the various starfield methods described in the above post, if you look at your paintFX brushes, you'll find a galaxy brush.
