can't select handles

i rigged a character and gave selection handles some bones. Now i'm able to select those handles in my system but when i open the same file in another system though i can see the handles i'm not able to select them. i'm not able to figure out whether it's the problem with maya or the display card or the OS.

PLZZZ HELPP

Its almost sound like you have the handels referenced some how in the new file. Just off the top of my heaad with out seeing a picture.

In the new file make sure you dont have them on a layer in your channel box referenced.

Also try an go display>conponent display>selection handels>enter. This might hide them at first just do it again and they should come back into view.

If not post up a pic so we can see a little better.

also make sure your selection masks don't have handles masked out.

i tried all suggestions but still the problem persists .. so i've attached a picture to make my query more clear. As shown in the pic, there are 10 handles(6 along ths spine, 2 2 for ears n 2 more for tail). I'm not able to select these handles. they r not in reference mode since if i select the bone directly, the handle for that also gets selected. But what we intend is for the opposite to happen r8?

*sigh* doesn't anybody render at 640x480?

660x824? That setting isn't even in Maya?!
