Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

body

I started the upper body. I wish to make the character very high detailed by the end.

i definitely recomend the use of as much anatomy references as possible if you're going for an accurate look.

Good luck and keep it up!

Anatomy

Yeah I'm using some anatomy references. It just looks crappy now. I have a lot to do, and many CVs to move around. I'm just getting the basic shape for now before I go into the detail. I want things in place and the right size before adding a lot of detail. So I'll continue showing the updates and process that was used to create the final.

Thanks for the crits.

hand

I drew out a sketch of how I would lie the hand to look. I will have to scan that in later. I started modeling it though. Here are some pictures of the finger joint creation.

Norman's left arm will be mechanical.

This is the mechanical finger, almost complete. This image has the wireframe, low polygon model on the bottom, and the twice-smoothed proxy model on the top.
