2D Animation

First of all, I apologise if this is posted in the wrong section, I am just a bit unsure as to where to post it.

I am wondering how to go about having animated textures within an animation.

If anyone has played Animal Crossing or some other Nintendo type game, they dont really model the eyes but have a basic head shape with a texture on it and if you play the game etc you will notice the eyes blink and change to different emotions and stuff..

Can this be done in Maya?

Many thanks in advance...

As far as I remember it is possible to use video textures, but I've never tried it, so I have absolutely no idea on what to do or how good it is... Or even if that's what you're after user added image

I believe when you select an image to map to an effect such as color or bump that loading an image sequence is allowed.

I've done it. You might want to use after effects or something similar. Take the uvSnapshot. Put it in your compositing program. Move your movie layer under it so the texture is were it should be. -Render your movie.
In maya you create a movie fileTexture and asign your film to it. Tick use image sequence and it should work. This will also automaticaly create an expression which goes something like "yourMovieFile.frameExtension = time" this means if you are at frame 25 in your timeline your movie texture will be at 25 as well.
This is somehow inconvenient for the animation of eyes mouth etc. So delete the expression. Done that you can go along and keyframe your movies frame extension like any other atribute.

good luck
