Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Both of the other entry's so far are looking good!

Here's a bit more of mine, it's a WPN-WMPG1. Wrist mounted plasma gun. Not finished yet by far but I thought as everyone else had now shown what theirs are I should too.

The first image I posted was of the trigger grip which is inside the main casing....

aaaaah crap!

i just realised i set the wrong end date for the challenge in the first thread

hold up, going to give it the proper 3 days instead of my failed 2 days!!!

i hate time...

challenge started at 1pm saturday in my time, so it should end at tuesday 1pm my time.

i'll get the correct times for all of us...

anywho.. now that that's fixed, i don't feel so bad that i lost a lot of hours due to no power today

here's a few close ups

i was getting it rigged so i could collapse it easy into the axe but rigging would start doing weird things

kruj4k: you fire the gun by pulling the trigger that pops out at the handle

which reminds me, i'll do a close up of that too at some point

I've started, i had to get some new batteries for my keyboard.

i was thinking of doing it gold, what do you reckon?

due to the gun laws in the UK i've never held or seen one of these. I've only ever fired 3 kinds of weapon. Therefore i have no idea of proportions for this, perhaps one of our US friends might like to help me out there!

Looking good guys!

@hammer.horror: Gun looks fine thus far... proportions seem fine. Though, if your going for a gold, you should make it a Desert Eagle. :p

@Chirone: Looking good. I like the idea of it folding out like that.

@Dango: That laser wrist watch is a good idea. Looking forward to seeing how much detail you can jam in there. user added image

@Kuj4k: Your space gun is looking good so far.

@murambi: ... take your time... it's not like you only have 3 days to model the thing.

did I miss anyone?

hammer, that's an awesome gold. what did you do to make it? (i want to stick it on my eye character)
you going to make it pure gold colour? (i assume it's gold plated)

murambi, good to hear you're going to start soon! *wonders what you will do*

dango, does that stand for weapon - wrist mounted plasma gun?

i'm thinking when i get home i'll try a few different colours

don't think i'll be able to properly layout the UVs (the blades are the only things that had a bit of attention but that was a real rush job, i think there are some overlapping UVs there too... not that it matters, it's only two colours and where they change it doesn't overlap)

Hey Hammer, it's an invention of sorts, not actually copied from anything, but I'm pretty sure the idea has been done before by someone.

And Chirone, yes, that is indeed what it stands for! Well guessed/worked out.

Been out all day so not done any more to it today, will get some more done, and hopefully get it finished for the deadline tomorrow.

Well, for a quick Gold, that's looking really nice! I'll have to remember that for the future, so cheers for the info!

I guess if I'm going to get any kind of a texture on this (even just shaders!) then I should call this almost done, may add a little more detail and then spend most of tomorrow trying to get it finished.
