May - Noob - MarkeMark

Right Lets get my first ever SM Challenge started then.

I have some ideas but my skills/patience may let me down by the end of the month.

I had considered taking Mike's cartoon of himself and turning it into a pirate but I didn't want to offend him on my first attempt.

I saw Kill Bill 2 last week and totally loved every second of it; so that will be my source of inspiration. I'm sure the Japanese have done a bit of pirating in the past.

So I'm going to take a bog standard pirate and give it a samurai twist.

See attached image.
My character will be a little bit of all of these characters (I hope).

Day 1 - VERY rough sketches

Here are a few (late night, post drink) sketches of my character.

Long way to go yet...

Day 2 - Basic proportions of body

In addition to my original idea I'll also be giving my character the face of Bruce Lee (I hope).

Day 5 - Take a step back.

I was getting too much into the model and lost sight of the main goal here. The detail was ramping up and most of it wouldn't get seen. So here is my new starting point.

Great concept m8, personally I would concertate on the main character first and then if time permits add the sidekick.

Lower poly body and head plus a couple of objects to get things rolling.

Looking real nice m, coming on well. Personally I would make the shoes a bit bigger, they look a bit out of proportion to me.
