Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

lighting problem

Does anybody know why the following is happenning and how I can fix it:
I have a light coming from behind the character, but it lights up not only the back of the character, but every part of the geometry, no matter what is blocking it. For example, light is coming out of the inside of the mouth and the nostrils. Thank you to anyone than can help on this matter.. (I am using mental ray)

I would assume that you don't have shadows turned on.

If a light doesn't cast shadows then it doesn't know which parts of the mode are in shadow and which are illuminated. So it illuminates everything.
