Creating Mechanical Drawings

Can anybody describe or give any advice to me as it relates to going from creating a design in Maya and then creating mechanical drawings for build out. I have tried to use the dimension tool, but they dont render out...any advice is appreciated.

If you have AutoCAD, you can export your scene into a format AutoCAD can read and then open exported file in AutoCAD and make the drawings there.
