Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

A model that I just finished

This turtle is now ready for animation. I have done a few tests on it and lip synch test things worked great.

Yes it can move its head and legs inside the shell and the front part of the lower shell closes. I will put up some other views of the this character.

it's a great model but i think your texturing could be a bit better. The shell looks a bit blurry even from this distance and the size of the patches on the legs seem to be a bit big. Do the legs have a bump map? they seem quite flat. you may want to consider a displacement map instead of a bump map.

Can we see a wire of the model aswell please?

I have had that problem with the shader in the shell, in just that one area. The map seems to stretch, and I have gone in and added more isoparms to that area with the same results. user added image
Any ideas that might help? I kind of like the big patchs on the legs, but I have created some other shaders in the pass for the legs. Thanks for the input Alan. user added image
