This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Problem with smoth

Whenever I try to to smooth my object nothing happens, and Maya has to close down if I try to move the object or anything. The problem begun when I started UV mapping my object, before it worked perfectly.

Any ideas?

Just some first thoughts

1. Make sure it's a poly object
2. Make sure none of the coordinates are locked...just a thought.
3. Since it happened after you UV mapped, try applying an automatic map to see if it fixes the problem. If it does, you could then try mapping it the way want and hopefully it won't crash again.

Adding a new map worked perfect, some work that went to waste there but I guess this is better then nothing.

Thanks for the help. user added image
