Need Help: Can't open file

I have a 3d model of a museum that I modeled using Maya. After several days of creating the model the file froze. The file is 37 mb. I can open the file, but it takes about 39 minutes. Once it is open I am unable to alter the file. I can't export it or modify the model. This is only the 5th model I have made with Maya, so I am no expert. Any suggestions would be appriciated. I am a 3rd year Architecture student and this is a model of my final project.

Thanks,
Evan

Maya .mb files can only take so much, youll have to save as .ma files if your file starts getting complicated, cluttered or large. Of course this is assuming you used the .mb file type.

only problem here is that .ma files are pretty big.

At our company we use 250 gb drives per scene and only use the .ma files. We had too many problems with .mb files. As far as i know there is no way to repair the .mb files.
