Is there any academic pricing for Maya?

I'm interested in purchasing my own personal copy of Maya, and I've been checking around academic software sites. I found 3Ds Max 6 ($170 for 1 year license!), and I was wondering if there is something similar for Maya. If you have any info on it that would be great!

Yes, I believe I recall educational Maya Unlimited was around $650 or something. That was a few years ago, though, before the price drop. Probably be cheaper now.

The academic version of Maya is not really a souped up PLE. It's the full version (available in both Complete and Unlimited) just with a different license and a little dialog box at startup that says "Educational use only". Feature-wise, you can do everything normally.
