dog

hello - have been working on this the last few days - trying to go for something that's kind of light not realistic. it's based on pictures of a jack russell puppy and my cairn terrier. not too happy with it's feet, nose or head at the moment.

yeah there are a few 'minor' problems all over! i'll probably add some more details there to seperate the leg from the ribcage. thanks XtremeAMX.

doesn't look that bad! i like it user added image
yeah as above posted, the minor problem, probarly you should get away of this six quad share vertex (stupid to explain, i mean a vertex which is in six quads) user added image
its a hell to remove them, i have/had quite a few and still i'm fixing them.

i like the feet, they look nice in my opinion. maybe you could add some little toes (claws) or even fur?

Arran,

The minor issue above isn't one. Its 4 sided so its fine, but do tidy up some of the tris you have all over.

Animals in generak and very hard to get right, keep plodding on.

thanks xmikx and R@nSiD - yeah - i've read in a couple of places that 5 or more quads sharing one vertex can be a problem when it comes to rigging - I think it just depends where they are.

yeah - animals can be really hard - and i'm not really used to doing cartoon stuff either.

Know its getting there, but even now, its so expressive, the eyes and the facial structure, makes the doggie look interesting and life like.
Thats great!

I like the stance around the rear of the dog arran, looks like you've nailed that well. I think the head and neck area could do with a bit more work so they sit a bit better but then again its a cartoony dog so I may well be wrong user added image

Keep it up though - wish I could have nicked it for my game prototype user added image

thanks a lot guys - user added image

hey MattTheMan - good to see you back! hope you manage to get your computer problems sorted out soon - i know it can be a pain! looking forward to seeing some maxwell renders!

yeah something about the head has been bugging me too. i've been fiddling with the verts and i think it's looking a bit better, but of course as soon as you post, you see something else that needs fixing.... i'm half debating turning this into a pug or something a bit more dog ugly/pretty.
