Default animate end sweep of a poly cylendar for motion graphics project

Im working on a motion graphics piece and I have ran into a wall...I need a way to animate a pizza slice type of geometry. I need to be able to animate the sweep in some sense...I know you can do it with nurbs but nurbs cylendars are open on the caps, as well as there would be an opening in the cylendar as soon as I animate the sweep...take a look at the reference pics I attached. any Ideas would be great
