Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

i thin k it isnt a problem cause it is created by you.. meaning: you modeled it. only stuff you have to buy are not allowed.

No one would expect you to finish this thing w/o help.... tuts are help.

We all learned some way or another, and since you must show your progress in your WIP thread, you may even get more help along the way from the kind folks here at SMuser added image

ragecgi, I'm new here, and really excited by the challenge, and I want to join (I hope I'll have time for it)
but I have 2 questions.
1. Can I create everything from scratch using the assets as reference only?
2. Can I start working on the animation during the pre-production period?

You can shoot your footage in any framerate you want.

The only thing you must remember is that your FINAL submitted video will NEED to be at Film-rate 24p. (24fps)

So, feel free to shoot in any frame rate you wishuser added image

AWESOME! Welcome to SM!

1. Can I create everything from scratch using the assets as reference only?

That is a very good question!
The FX Challenges will ALWAYS focus on a "film-production" mentality and as such, will almost always need to be as photo-real as possible.
So the ultimate answer to that question is YES!

So, IF you feel you can pull-off a level of realism very close to the original plate photography, then go for it! user added image
(thats what I always try to do for my own work user added image )

Feel free to model/shoot anything else you wish, and show your progress in your WIPuser added image

2. Can I start working on the animation during the pre-production period?

YES! Go for it immediately if you are in the grove!
Just remember to show as much progress in your WIP as you can!!! user added image

lOL.., i know i can shoot at any rate., ???.., of course.., but i wondered what the final deliverables were.., was questioning them is all. (always a dangerous thing to do)

OK.., pulldown from PAL to film rate 24 fps. i have never done it (im not of international status except here, as we all are user added image ).., so audio will need syncing too.., but what am i saying.., everything has a preset these days.

thanks user added image
