Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

I have a question? where do i place these maps.

a self ilumintaion map. shinness map. opacity map.

Im guessin you could go into the Attribute Editor of a material and click the little "create" button next to specularity, transparency, etc and use those image maps... =]

Im not sure about the illum map, but the 'shinness' would go as specularity. The opacity will go under the transparency node.

Raul: depends on the type of material your working with... say your using a blinn:
self illumination would go into incandescance
shinyness to-> specular colour
opacityto-> transparency
