Maya hair- before or after rigging

When adding hair to a character (using the maya hair system) do you add it before or after rigging? (or does it not matter?)

does it not say in the maya help?

If not I would say do it before rigging, then attach the hair curves to the head joint in the rig, like you would any other peripheral type of object in Maya

Yup Jay's got it, Also remember to hide the hair system when animating as it can really slow your comp down. I like to just keep the nurbs surfaces that I made the curves form present just as a visual guide.
