Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

walking creature

hey guys, im trying to make some kind of giant creature thing, but so far the body isnt great, i dont have a head, and i dont know how the body should move as it walks, anyone have some ideas?



I removed this animated gif just in case the admins start getting angry, they werent exactly small, so i will only have one posted at a time, in my latest post

its not a bad start.. try finding some spider avi or movies.. like eight legged freaks that will help you alot to see how they move.

I think that when it walks, it shouldn't move in a straight path. More wobbely. And the body should move in sync with the legs.

i agree, it shouldnt move in a straight path, but which legs? they are basically moving in direct oposition of each other

Well I think when its walking, I think that when its walking, I think that the body should kind of not stay in the same place. Maybe kinda rotating on the X or Z axis

ok, I've tried to add more character to it, but it still needs a head, and im not really satisfied with the way the body looks, what do u guys think?

Looking better, yea try and find a vid of the legs movement. 8 legedfreaks was a good movie.

ok, i think i have a body that will work a little better for animation, its lacking detail, but i kinda like the way its going, i need some sort of exoskeleton or plates on it's back to hide folds when i make it tilt up for it to climb up on a wall though, tips will still be verry much appreciated, (by the way, the gif turned out fairly badly, but there were supposed to be about 15 randomly placed and sized eyes on the face to make it seem spiderish without being a spider entirely, and yes, the mandables move)
