Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Uv Transfer Problem

I don't know why this happens:

First, I select object 2, which is the origional object, and I duplicate it. Then I average the duplicated mesh's vertices twice. Then I UV mapped the duplicated one.

When I go to polygons-transfer UV sets, it completely destroys my UV map like shown.

So i thought, well, cant I just go back and un-average my duplicated mesh, and when I did, the UV map got completely shredded. So now I don't know if I should go ahead and re-map the origional mesh, or something else. Please guys... i need help!

if you are using maya 6.0 then get the upgrade to 6.01 from alias.

but yea, select the uv'ed mesh then other mesh, then transfer>UV

hmm, well i dont have 6.5

but a quick solution i would take is:

-select the original dog

-shift select the uv'ed dog

-in animation menu: deform>create blendshape

and use the original dog as a blendshape on the uv'ed relaxed mesh. [after setting the blendshape value to 1 ofcourse] it should take the shape of the original user added image no problems

thats because your vertex order has changed.

maybe you deleted a face or did split a polygon

on the duplicated mesh you were UV'ing.

its no longer the same mesh.
