Convert Polygon to Sub D

Why the vertices' number in my hand model is fewer than they in the help document?
I am modeling a hand depend on the help document by "Convert Polygon to Subdivision surfaces".
when I right-click the hand's surface and select Display Level: 1
in standard mode, every finger's vertices's number are fewer than they in the manual.
I followed "Library/ Instant Maya Unlimited/
1.Subdivision Surfaces/ Refine the fingers
Why?
Thank you.

There could be alot of possibillities...such as u might have'nt cut some edges properly....so that might have caused the reason of less number of vertices...i could possibly help if i could see the file... try it again... and carefully i m sure you will get the solution...

Thank you

Thank you, Shoaib.
I'm sorry, I don't know which edges I should cut.
I'm very sorry. I have tried five times to upload the .zip file to the website, but all failed. The Maya's help documents is in the .zip file. According to the Maya's help documents, I wanted to model a hand.
Perhaps now the website have some problems.
I am using Maya Unlimited 4.0, when I press F1, the document appears.
Now, I want to say another thing.
In fact, most of my skill about Maya was from the friends in the websites. Thank you all the friends!
I think the helps should be each other.
I have seen many posts, but I can answer only few.
I can't understand some of them well because my English is poor.
I'm sorry for this.
Thank you.

I am sorryyy... My mistake i did'nt see that you had attached the file ...my mistake..anyhow i have solved your problem. so i am going to explain....
open your file...select hand... go to Subdiv Serfaces > Standard Mode.
then select your hand again...right click > Vertex.
Right click again > Display Level 1. It will show the vertices...but here is another problem in your file... that is the vertices of the middle part of your fingers are missing. they are actually somehow sort of hidden. so the solution is
select the top vertices of each finger and move them a bit backwards. and the vertices of the middle part of the finger will show up. from that on...you can follow the document. ;o)
Cheers.
