This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.
Hey all this is my first head modelling... i think i need help, wait scratch that i do need help lol. So far ive made a 30 unit cube and subdivided it. made a nice little pliable sphere.
Then I started moving it, rotating it, and shaping it to my face shape that i want. like so

Ohh sorry i though you were using polygons, my bad. Well unless you have good experiance with subds you probably shouldnt make a head as sub ds r very hard to use. For your very 1st head model I would advise you to use polygons (like me ) as I found it easy to get a hang of.
And sorry I can give you any advise on subd modeling as I suck with them.

If you're working with Sub-D's then you should just be able to right click and go to 'polygon'. Then you can work with is like it was any other polygon, split edges and all.
create a polygon sphere,
use the divisions you like... not too many (start simple),
with split polygontool you can cut the mouth, eyes, nose out and start tweeking some points...
..to see this in a more smoothed mode you can make it a subD
<modify/convert/polygon To subD...>
..tweek a bit more and go back to polygon mode
<modify/convert/subD To polygon...>
and so on...
This is the way I kinda model but I wouln't create the mouth, eyes, nose out of the sphere...
Everyone has it's own method..
Try searching for tutorials of how to create a head and you will see many methods of doing it...
