Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Well...what happend to the battle arena??
I now I'm pretty new so I don't kow too much about this site, but no posts since 2007 in tis part of Simplymaya is pretty sad...
Cm'on, let's see some battles!

PS: If anyone wants to battle me, Im fine with it, except Im a complete Newbie to maya and probably won't come up with a Leonardo da Vinci model...

i used to use it a bit, but its kind of pointless without any real prizes, and just having the pride of winning as a prize user added image

But, although we aren't at the same levels probably, I would battle you ^_^

I'd let you choose the topic of the model of course.

For the topic, can we have smothing inorganic, except cars (I suck at them BIG time (at the moment))
You can choose the what we are acctually moddeling. I thinik something futuristic would be good, but in the end, I leave the choice to you.

i'm glad you said no cars, because i suck at them too! haha..

but i am stumped. I agree that futuristic is a great idea, but i always am horrible with coming up with the ideas for these... Just some quick questions to help me:

should the model be high poly, low poly, or your choice?
must it be textured?
Should it just be limited to Maya and photoshop/image editor?

I am stumped with the specific idea though.... so feel free to decide or help me along..

I think for the polycount, we should choose. I am on a 300MHz proccessor, so I can't handle to many polys. But in the end, I do not want to hinder you with it.

I think we should leave out texturing. First of, I am new to UV mapping, and I do not know how to map them yet, and second, we would have more time on the model.

For the idea, what about some space vehicle, space ship, futuristic battle machines such as anti-gravity tanks and such.

And for the tim elimit, is one week enough for you? I have holidays off school in the next week, so I have time if you want it longer.

EDIT: For the textures, we could have it as obtional, but thats up to you.

thats cool, im fine with one week.
i like the futuristic battle machine idea, it sounds like that would be fun!
i definitely wouldn't texture mine unless i had to, its a pain in the arse...

SO, when do we start?

PS: Is it OK with you that we make our own concept (I think thats what it is called, you know, where you draw you ideas on paper before acctually making it)?
