Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

so here is the basic setup of my scene. everything is gonna take place in this shot of the interior of a fridge. im a horrible lighter so im actually happy with the lighting so far. otherwise still have alot of modeling to do.

Always light with shadows, as you can be sure you're not getting light going where it shouldn't be. Without using shadows, Maya doesn't care about objects occluding the light, so it'll just blanket the scene.
