May/June Challenge Rules and Guidelines!

May/June Challenge!

Undersea creatures!

For this challenge, design and create a creature of underwater origin. It can be real or imaginary. Texturing/Shading IS required.

1) Show concept drawings! Show your progress!

2) BONUS goal(s): As a bonus goal, create a nice underwater scene for your creature. It doesnt have to be super detailed. The challenge will be creating an underwater ambiance.

3) Label your thread thusly:

May/June - Norm or Noob - Your name

Choose to classify yourself as a Normal or Noobie class entry. Whichever class you choose is the class your final submitted entry will compete against! A winner will be chosen from both classes.

4) Mods and Admins can enter, but are inelligible to win and do not count toward the Grand Prize consideration of 8 or 5 entries mentioned below. If a mod chooses to participate, choose "Mod" class rather than Norm or Noob.

5) If 8+ Normal entries and/or 5+ Newbie entries finish among the 3 Simply sites participating (SM, SL, SMax), a Grand Prize will be rewarded to the class! VIP point prizes will be awarded to both a Normal and/or Newbie winner, if the Grand Prize criteria of entries is not met for that class.

6) Final entries must be posted into a Final Entry thread that a mod will create in the last week of the challenge.

The due date of the challenge is June 30th!

Normal Grand Prize:

A book (any art subject book, whether educational or reference or whatever) and a choice of a tshirt or mug.

Newbie Grand Prize:

1 SM DVD of their choice and 14 points

Hi Mike,

This is going to sound like a really dumb question, but how does one know to class them selves as a Norm or a Newbie. I've seriously started trying to get my head around Maya this year and I'm about to finish my first model

So am I a norm or newbie?

Cheers
Paul

It can be real or imagined, from the dino age or the future. user added image

Class yourself as you see fit. If it's decided by a vote of mods during the course of the challenge that your class should be changed, it will be.

I think that should be a new challange rull, If you do a shark you have to attach a friggin laser beam to its head. At least for one render !

Hillarious, austin powers was a fantastic trilogy (maybe even longer if were lucky). I agree about the sharks and laser thing, that should be a commandmant for all I care.
