Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

A few days more...

And I might become happy with this nose-job user added image

Model is looking sweet, when you have finished, you will have to print out a helicoter pilot licence for yourself to fly the modeluser added image
Looks so real.

Almost ready to start with the fun things

I have prolonged this start, meaning, the modeling of the doors, windows and the other nice details, due to the work that goes into making these. I do not want to tweak the fuselage any more, after I have started modeling the interior and the windows.

But now, I am ready to get going.

Here is a pic showing some simple projection onto the nurbs fuselage.

Then the man trimmed the surface, and the man was happy. Praise the nurbs.

Sudden trim action.

More to come...

Here are the smaller parts

I had to copy the big fuselage each time for the various parts, and trim most of the fuselage away.

I dont think there is any other way to "cut" the parts from the fuselage, but please tell me if you know otherwise.

I plan to work on these parts to make some real doors and windows out of them.

HoHoHo!

I will rebuild the fuselage! A little sad but I guess I learned something.

First, the fuselage did not have the symmetry I though it had.
Second the fuselage was in effect a cylinder, that had been tweaked a lot, BUT the seam was in the wrong place, making an issue on some parts later on when trimming and further...

So with this flawed fuselage I will start shaping a new one, and this time it is GONNA be perfect. Ah, well...

Here I go again

I did not grasp your comment thereBabyDuck. user added image

Anyway, here is my idea for making this piece anew.

And the nurbs cylinder primitive can be made with caps from the start, from the options menu, that is nice!

I'll shape the three cylinders and let the "attatch surface without move" do the joining.

Hehe, this time the nose WILL be perfect. I tweaked myself into a slight depression last time user added image.

edit:
This starting point led to some issues that I cannot figure out right now, so I'll make the whole fuselage from one nurbs-cylinder, and inserting isoparms where needed.

aehm what i wanted to say with it - you found out it is not really symmetric. so the designers that originally made the uh-60 were drunk when sketching it. and you tried to model in symmentric and failed - so you discover what all they made wrong in the first place than making the real thing user added image

Oh, and I have tried some things for making the fuselage, but Maya actually made some kind of error if I'm not mistaken.

The error in question, regards to the undo function. A surface turned really wierd and the undo funciont could not restore its former shape. Really annoying. So I have now decided to model the whole fuselage from one nurbs-cylinder, and I got only the nose left to tweak user added image. And this time the nose is easy. I keep some secret symmetry by moving the vertice pairs in vertical movements only. In that way, later tweaking will always be able to tweak itself back without messing it all up.

File Lost :) Project terminated!

Yes, I cannot find the save file for this project on my cd's. Ah, well...

I was sure I had copied the project to a cd...

The folders probably got wiped, with the formatting I did on my HDD recently. (too much mess with the registry and all)

I have to start some other project now.
