Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

thats awesome thanx...but i need something more like this ...that has more than one crack....

I did this before using Blastcode plugin trial version, But it somehow broke and the cracks dissapeared. Wondered if there was a better way.

my fault in the description i only put 'crack'

thanks

It's fairly dependant on how much detail you want to have, as imho any method that involves bolean operations gives you completly the opposite of control and flexibility. Boolean ops are very unstable in maya and anything more complex than the demo in elephantinc's video will likely not work in maya.

Another possible option is downloading a freebie shatter tool (pulldownit, etc) & Rigid Body Dynamics plugin (bullet, etc), as maya's is pants.

Or possibly, using an nCloth tearable surface as the surface of the ice.

cheers,
Chris

Should do, or you could also have it as one thing, instead of having a line shaped thing, model it in to the shape that all the cracks make together (which you can do since they start from a centre point)
