Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

January Challenge - Before and After - THX1138

OK, finally got the time to enter this challenge. Just upgraded my processor to an AMD quad core, so this challenge will be great to see how well it works out.

Going to be putting something in this background...

Hope I can get my entry done by deadline folks. Still no wip's to show at this time because I'm adding more to my model. So far my project is about 70% complete.

The lighting and composition are set. It's the model thats not looking the way I want so I'm having to go back and add more detail to the model, and it doesn't help that the render is 2k because thats what it looks best at. I would have had my WIP's and final posted yesterday.

I will have a link to the high rez version when I post my final.

Cheers Acid44!

You will be able to see what I have made today murambi.

Anyway, got snowed in today and still a bit tired from a 14 hour work day yesterday. So I will be hard at work finishing this project while I still have time.

OK, I have gone as far as I can go with this. Time to spill the to you folks. I have always wanted to do a UFO project, and this photo-comp challenge was just the ticket. I have more stuff modeled for the craft, but I just don't have the time to put it all together in a one month challenge. The craft is derived from the ancient ( Derelict ) ship found in The movie ALIEN, but I went my own way with it. Al also added a little bit of Independence day in it with the green lights. I really wanted to show scale with this project and the evening setting in the photo-background allowed me to be a bit creative with the ship. Thats why it's mostly a silhouette, accented with lights.

The render is very large to show off the scale. I hope you folks like it.

First up is the wire frame mesh.

The first link doesn't work any more. Here is a better quality version ( linked directly here. ). The first one was a little fuzzy.

To view full size, right click and select "View", then just click on the picture.
