how to get texture to 3d print

Hey all!

I have a question. I have this base with the moon setup. How do I prepare it for 3d printing? I have the bump map and displacement in place, but when I send it as an .stl, I get nothing, just a smooth disk.

HELP!

I don't think STL files store displacement or bump information, you'll need to "bake" those to polygons. Modify > Convert > Displacement to polygons, is one way to do that. Not sure how to retain the bump information though. Hope that helps.

Yup! that would be correct. I actually wound up applying a texture to the alpha in Zbrush and BAM...Stamped out a beautiful moon surface user added image. Thanks!
