Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

SciFI project wip

Hello

Im working on my first major project, a short SCI-FI animation about a space colony...
storyboard not finished yet! user added image aiming at NPR, cartoon style.

2 starwars-spaceships and a droid are done so far.
droid design by a XSI user over at XSIbase.com, i liked the design so i desided to do one in Maya.

hey that's a really nice style you've got there. The droid reminds me of Blue (the really famous cg short character).

So have you got any of your storyboards or anything to show us? that would be very cool to see. I'm really looking forwards to this one it's looking great!

As a newbie question... How did you make the guy so smoth, rounded? Like it had just been sandpapered for a few hours...?

And i like him a lot, but the semi-exposed chest cavity may be a problem in a battle... especially if any vital functions are within. Maybe have a clear plastic/armor between the rib-cage like shells?

--- haha .. good point.. user added image

But the thing i like about the chest is that you can see the "spine" and the "ribs"

If I may ask, what NPR script/shader/renderer are you using? did you get it somewhere or write it yourself?

thanks

I used Mentalray..
contour shaders for the "ink outlines"
and dielectric material for the glass shader

thank you all for the comments
