Sculpt Geometry Tool

Im following a tutorial and in the tutorial they use the sculpt geomentry tool. Now is my question how can I activate that tool?? Cause when they click on this function they get a red circle around their brush but I dont get that and when I change the settings in the menu I still dont see anything changes...

So what I'm I doing wrong?? I have maya 2009...

(I know the say push b to make the brush size bigger and smaller but since I dont see the red circle that doesnt work for me.. ooh I use polygons... if that changes anything)

Select the object, then select the sculpt geometry tool make sure you click the option box this pops up your brush and strength controls very handy
