problems with dog tutorial

i tried to download the first section of the free "cartoon dog" tutorial. everything seemed fine, both files were fully installed onto my computer. Although, when i opened the video file there was only sound and no video. Im new to maya and this website so im not sure if thats all your supposed to get with a free package. does anyone know how i can fix this problem?

Have you downlowed the DVDX codec?
