Good start, the shape looks good so far.

Edit: Are you modeling an acoustic or electric? At first I thought it was electric but that last render made it hard to tell.

Wot way did you go about modelling this. I am looking to model a electric guitar but am new to this and don't know what way to start. Looks good by the way.

I think that you could do with hardening up the edges a little as its a bit smooth at the moment

looks good so far, but I think that if it's an acoustic guitar it's a bit flat.
(in case I didn't explain this in an understandable way, see below user added image)

thanks for the comments and replies. I am attempting to model an acoustic guitar, ive tweaked the shape and made it a bit less smooth all around. To get the shape i just started with a cube and put in the vertices as needed, instead of making it messy and putting in unwanted vertices in the Inputs section...

Yeah looks better now. You said earlier that you just started with a cube. Did you just start extruding faces and moving vertices or is there a way to draw around a reference of the guitar then extrude the outline then start adding details, did you use a reference image imported on a plane. How long have you been using maya and have you had any formal training?

Sorry for all the questions but am new to all this

Thanks for any help

thanks freaky and junkie.
I didnt extrude at all in this model because it started making it too messy. I did use a reference photo to get the shape and size. I just used the cut faces tool to add vertices where I needed them, then just organized them after i finished. And ive been using maya for about 4-5months and did not have any former or formal training besides the free tutorials found on this site.
Id love to see one of your WIP threads Junkie when you start one.

Heres another render of it partway textured. I still need to add details to the texturing and fix the tuning pegs.

Coming along nicely. The edges look like they're still a little too soft but I also know you're still tweaking.

thanks for the comments and suggestions, is this "hard" enough? Anything else I should fix or add?
