gordon surfaces

Below is an example of the type of surface I am trying to create that was produced in a different modeler. I see how I can create a similar surface with the birail tools, however it appears that there is a limitation in that I can't use closed profile curves. Is there a way to do it that I'm missing? Let me know if the problem isn't clear.

Thanks!

Split the profiles at the intersection points and do the birail in parts. Then apply global stitch.

I'm not a nurbs expert, but that's how I'd do it user added image

Thanks KB! I'll proceed that way. I just thought there might be a way to do it in one fell swoop.
