Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Sandman300 - May - Texturing

hello, It seems that I'm the only Lightwaver over at SL so I'm going to post over here as well. I haven't done any UV mapping since the challenge I did some time back. I still remember some of the basics. Althow I'm taking my time. I'm looking forward to using the new Node based texturing system that lightwave has. As well as a new book on texturing that I should be getting soon.

I used Maya ... I think it was at V3. way back, I seem to remember the texturing was node based then. In any case i'm looking forward to the challenge.:attn:

That chain texture looks really good, how did you make it? Did you make it in PS?

I'm glad you like it. Actually, I made it in Lightwave. I just modeled 1 ring and then set up an array. I rendered out a pic with even lighting. What you see is a test of the pic used as a texture on a polygon. I plan to use it on his under shirt

An array is something like automatically coppying and pasting at a defined distance from the original. there is also a radial array. sortof like cloning in a line. besides these, there is a too called rail clone. that works similar to array except you can use a spline to dedine the path. I actually don't know if Maya has these type of tools. I'd imagine there is something comparable.user added image I'm sure Mike would know.

To me, that sounds like a more involved and controllable way to "special duplicate" (Maya).

Understandable, the UV mapping is time consuming.Well, some more done, I redid the torso ( I wasn't real happy with it), time for food and Heroes.

It was a great episode tonight. :attn: :attn:

Also, IÕd have to say that the shape shifter (Candice) gets hotter every episode. user added image
