Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Had my first go at creating cloth today, done a blanket for the bed. Not too sure if I'll keep it like this or redo it again, but it's fun learning all the same.

Thanks Dave, although my name isn't actually Steve....lol

I agree with you on the bit that hangs over the edge, it's because of the cushions under it that that's happening, I'm having another go with some different settings to see if I can make it look a little better.

Many hands make light work, that's why I collect them....hahaha

After a long weekend away from Maya, I've had a fun day so far making my character a pair of "killer" biker boots.
May add a little more detail to them but they're pretty much done.
Blood splattered rubber apron I'm thinking next.

Cheers Ben!

Decided to get the bottom half of him detailed a bit better, then do the apron, his top half is still in the blocking out stage but all in proportion so hopefully it won't take too long to get him looking a bit better.

Just looking forward to getting his mask on his head and a chainsaw in his hand!

Not got too much time over the few days so updates will be few and far between until the weekend....

Hi Dango77 got it right this time
I have to say I have not seen a person made from the bottom up before, have you got him blocked out already and are filling in the gaps............dave

I do have him blocked out Dave,
but am also using another low poly model as a kind of mannequin for a couple of bits, like the mask and boots, as well as the chainsaw and a couple of the knifes.
I find it a good way to get the scale of something without having to model a whole human first, but whilst still being able to look at all the angles in 3d.
I'll probably do the same thing for the apron, but the rest of the model I'll probably just finish from where it is.
Obviously the mannequin won't be in the final image....lol

Thanks Speedy,

I haven't had much time to do any modelling work, but managed to get some texturing done this morning before I have to leave for work.
I probably looked quite a sight, coffee in one hand and the other hand switching between a breakfast bowl and and graphics tablet! lol!

Anyhow, roll on Sunday and a little more time for Maya!

The only problem I have Dango...I think the boots are good but do you reckon a pair of Wellies (white) would be more sinister?? Just a TQ bro. Does look good...hmmm what about horrible Yellow galoshers instead...bahahaha clogs..friggin clogs!!! sorry I got carried away
