Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Simple Autobots symbol. I tried to make it as close to the real one as i could. I took a lot of time in working on parts of it you cant see but at least it was fun and fast.

Look neat! Right now im modeling a transformer (a simple one). so that looks really cool

What one are you modeling?

I modeled this for my brother as hes a huge transformer fan, i plan on making the decepticon symbol aswell(already started it).

I have some of his transformer toys i was actually thinking of modeling one but i cant decide which. What ide like to do is take the concept car i designed in maya and turn THAT into a transformer.

Im creating my own, using a simple 350z body shape to go with, as this will be the first Car i would have ever modeled so im taking it easy. Ive already started it in the WIP section. Not sure if it should be a decepticon or autobot. Looking at your previous work I would love to see what you can do with a transformer!

thanks. And you couldnt have chosen a better car to start with. 350z is fairly simple with only a few hard areas. It was my first car to model and i went back to do it again to see how much ive improved recently.

I tend to favor cars and robots for modeling so its hard for me to believe i havent gotten around to making a transformer. Hopefully when i get a little better at animation ill give one a go.

i havent had as much time to use maya as ide like recently or i dont have any inspiration to make something when i do get a chance. But ive been thinking of putting my most recent car model in the wip section, after i finish the decepticon symbol anyway.

heres the decepticon symbol. it was surprisingly easy. i dont know why it took me so long to do it. But i didnt try and make it as accurate and complete as the autobots one...
