Problems with body shape...

I'm currently making a high poly char that I will normal map for gaming purposes. ( well that is the idea :p ) MY question is, I am struggling to make the char look real, in the way that the clothes do not look natural, ie fall and sag but just sit there and I think i have lost some body shape trying to make this happen. How do you normally go about making a char with clothes on? Do you model the whole char 'naked' so you can see the correct topology from the beginning, then model the clothes above the 'naked' model, or do you just model the visible body and create the clothes?

Please advise as I doubt there is much call for naked models in todays games,

i think that both sound like a good idea so you can make a choice. if you want to you can paint the clothes on as a texture or model them. if you are going for a games character i would model the clothes just to get more detail into them. but you could also try making the clothes with cloth.

hope that helps

I think that depends on the needs. does the char need to be naked somewhere in the game? if not I´d just model the body with clothes in one piece for simplicity. in case the char needs to have different clothes for any purpose take your time to think about befor start modeling. I´d maybe model a base version and then kind of extrude the different outfits.

everything starts and ends in the right place at the right time.
