Maya 8.5 SP1 updated (06/12/07)

Autodesk has updated the 8.5 service pack1. So, if you've loaded SP1 prior to June 12, 2007, you probably need to go back to Autodesk and download it again.

Here's an email I received from them.

In an effort to continually improve the reliability and robustness of Maya, Autodesk is releasing the Maya 8.5 Service Pack 1 update which is available to all Maya 8.5 customers free of charge. This release contains a number of critical fixes across several functional areas including:

* API
* File Referencing
* Maya nCloth
* Polygon Modeling
* Rendering (including mental ray)

Note: If you have already installed Maya 8.5 Service Pack 1 prior to June 12, please download
the latest version now.

Yeah, you guys are right. They released SP1 and then released an updated SP1 today. At least that's what it sounds like.

It really was a sad day when Autodesk took over. Only they can mess up a update. And people complain about Microsoft.

Well at least its free. Off to go update AGAIN

** edit **

anyone got a link as I`m off work at mo with bad leg and can`t get to my work email from home and thats where the email would have gone.

got this address

https://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...linkID=9242259

well I`m waiting for this new one to come down but it don`t look like it.

its the same size, right down to the last bite
the read me on the site is the same
but its very slow coming down 2day.

My old version of the file was created on the 5th (file prefaces info) so that one is older than the 11th as the file on the site states it is - will have to see.

is there any info on what the update of the update fix`s as I have not seen anything wrong if it so far

the old service pack is called
myr_maya8.5sp1_win32.exe 329,170 kb created on the 5th june

the new one is
myr_maya8.5sp1a_win32.exe 329,286 kb created on the 11th june

Yes you have to uninstall maya 8.5 again (come on autodesk sort that out)

so far no difference what so ever and no info on what they had to fix in the update

Has anyone else problems with the docs?

I uninstalled Maya 8.5 and installed Maya 8.5SP1 and can't access the docs now. (error message attached)
