This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

First Model - Jedi Starfighter

This is my first model so please critique it as much as you can. Just be honest, it's the only way I'll learn. I've spent enough time on it that I know enough to start other things. It's not as good as I'd like it, but I'm proud to have it for my first model. While it does need a bit more work, it's time to move on and do other models, etc.

Any tips/comments you can provide will only help me improve.

Oh, and to Kurt, great tutorial. It was perfectly paced and I learned plenty. I look forward to getting some more of your video tutorials.

VERY good for your first model! How long have you been using Maya?

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. The entire model/texture took about 5 weeks. So I've been using it a little bit longer than that just screwing around. It took me so long because it was my first model and I had to pause the DVD every 15 seconds or so so I could make sure I followed the directions. But, that being said, it was perfectly paced and allowed me the time explore some of the details.

I'm glad to be hanging around this site viewing the work of others (and realizing how many talented people are out there).

Oh, and the texturing was done with GIMP because the 30 day trial of Photoshop ran out about a week ago! Should have waited until I started texturing. I'll see if I can invest in Photoshop....eventually.
