Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Sept/Oct - Noob - Spunky

Well after pulling out all my nes carts and going through all of them. All but one was made into a 3d game. And that's hudson's adventure island! All of them were never "modernized". I'm still really depressed though, wanted to do blaster master! but it showed up on ps1 :headbang: First pic is the main boss I'm gunna do. Second is cover pic from the box.

little update. C&C please, been working my hardest and there are absolutely no 5 sided polys! only 3's and 4's. Also trying some different render modes. Just got back from FL and started working on this, also downloaded some tutorials while I was down there visiting my school, they have fiberobtic net, 15mbs, I about kissed the guy's feet for letting me use it, we just got wireless and fiber is about 200x faster, can't belive I once used dial up not two months ago.
 to fiber

well another update on the start of the front, this is the low poly mesh, I will add more detail like scales and smaller spikes but this is basically my 3d referance and all that, the problem I'm noticing though is what i've circled in red, it's starting to really bother me and is going to have to change to more of a joint.

Looks promising. Could you post a wire?

I like it, its looking nice and cute.

You probably will have to change the joint as its looking a little strange. Have a google/yahoo image search on insect joints to see what it gives you.

update, C&C welcome please, currently this is the base model, I plan to add more detail to it and make some geometry flow better. Thanks again for the comments!

looking cool user added image

I'd take a copy of the current model before doing a high detail one. You could then come back to the copy and make it low detail giving you two versions. Just an idea user added image

update, redid a lot of loops to make deforming a little smoother, color is the basic scheme i'm thinking of and not the final texture. C&C welcome also will post a wireframe if needed of the new layout user added image
